Harmac President & CEO Honored with Penn State Behrend Keynote Invitation

At the start of the Fall 2024 semester, Harmac President & CEO John Somers served as the keynote speaker of the inaugural Corporate Engagement Luncheon at Penn State College’s Behrend Campus in Erie, Pa.

Mr. Somers addressed a roomful of leaders from 30 other regional companies, along with numerous students and faculty. Harmac has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with the college – which is known for its expertise in plastics engineering and polymer science – dating back to 2011. It stems from our similar cultures and commitments to our customers, employees and communities. We see it in the way they treat one another with honesty, integrity, and respect. We see it in their equity and diversity initiatives, such as their BEAM program which supports English Language Learners. We see it in the community contributions they make through their Innovation Commons, faculty-led service-learning projects, high-level research, and student volunteer work.

We’re proud to have supported many of their student and campus initiatives, including a thriving internship program, investments in their educational technology, and real-world learning experiences through visits to our Buffalo and Ireland facilities. We’re also proud to have some Nittany Lions among our engineering staff, as we continue to drive innovative, high-quality solutions to meet our customers’ needs.
